About us

Welcome to Oxenfoord…

Building on 39 years of masterclasses, coachings and workshops, Oxenfoord International is an annual, week-long summer school for singers and accompanists based in coastal village Musselburgh, east of Scotland’s capital Edinburgh. Taking place at Loretto School we continue to offer an inspiring setting for students and staff to share music through teaching and performance.

In 2020 I will be offering the Public Evening Masterclass and will lead students through part 1 of Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise. We also welcome returning guest Masterclass tutors John Mark Ainsley, Susan Bullock CBE, Karen Cargill and Oxenfoord Patron Ann Murray DBE. Please see Tutors and Accompanists for updated biographies of all our distinguished staff and Classes for the full range of class descriptions.

This year we welcome Scottish Tenor Nicky Spence and Italian coach Paola Quaglia for the first time. The recipient of the 2020 Sam Hutchings Pianist Prize will be American-born accompanist Dylan Perez, currently at the Royal College of Music in London.

To apply please download the Application Form and do let us know if you have any questions, we’d love to hear from you.
