At Oxenfoord International you can personalise your experience, taking extra classes and undertaking a variety of workshops and drop-in sessions throughout the week. On this page find out more about what you might expect to see outside classes on a typical day.
Following a vocal warm-up in the Colin Thomson Hall with one of our vocal technique tutors, teaching begins from 9.30am/10am and your one-class-per-day of attendance will be timetabled at any point throughout the teaching day which finishes at 6pm. A morning and an afternoon break are scheduled with refreshments provided in the Library. There will also be morning drop-in sessions for singers and pianists, providing an opportunity to run through music with a coach before scheduled classes. There are many opportunities to tailor the course to suit your own requirements and you’ll usually be involved in one or more of your chosen classes every day.
This year we will continue the popular Masterclass Lunchtime Series. All staff and students are encouraged to observe before afternoon teaching begins, and there will be an opportunity for audience questions towards the end of the session.
The Oxenfoord Choir will rehearse every day between 5pm-6pm in preparation for the Chapel Concert on the last evening of the course, all singers are welcome to attend.
Prior to and after each evening concert there will also be a bar in the Colin Thomson Hall. As you can see below, the days are quite busy with lots going on giving you the opportunity to take as much as you want to from the course.

8.30am – 9am: Breakfast (with 15 minutes added for get out)
9.15am – 9.45am: Vocal warm-up, Colin Thomson Hall (everyone is welcome to drop in but this is not compulsory)
9.30am/10am – 11.00am: Teaching/drop-in sessions
11.00am – 11.30am: Morning break (refreshments served in Library)
11.30am – 1.00pm: Teaching/drop-in sessions
1.00pm – 1.30pm: Lunch (with 15 minutes added for get out)
1.45pm – 2.15pm: Masterclass Lunchtime Series, Colin Thomson Hall
2.30pm – 4.00pm: Teaching
4.00pm – 4.30pm: Afternoon break (refreshments served in Library)
4.30pm – 6.00pm: Teaching (Oxenfoord Choir rehearse 5pm – 6pm in Chapel)
6.00pm – 6.30pm: Dinner (with 15 minutes added for get out)
7.30pm – 9.30pm: Evening Concert in the Concert Hall
9.30pm: Bar
Outside scheduled class times you can also observe other classes or organise your own practice, rehearsal and coaching. You can also request extra classes and these will be allocated at a cost of £45 according to tutor availability (or two for £85). These classes may be requested either in advance or once the course has started. Please contact the scheduling administrator if you would like to book extra classes in advance or have any questions.
