More Information About Accommodation
The two venues where most staff and students will be staying are McIntosh Hall (a 15-minute walk from the Laidlaw Music Centre) and St Agnes Blackadder Hall (a 22-minute walk from the music centre). Both halls offer comfortable, high-quality options, and all meals are included.
McIntosh Hall is just a short walk to the Laidlaw Music Centre and features bedrooms available for single or twin occupancy, with shared bathroom facilities, including amenities such as towels, toiletries, and in-room tea and coffee. Full week only.
A little further afield, Agnes Blackadder Hall offers more privacy with single occupancy ensuite rooms and on-site parking. Full week only.
Getting to St Andrews
- From within the UK: Edinburgh is a well-conncted transport hub, and from there the nearest mainline station to St Andrews is Leuchars, with regular trains from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London. From Leuchars, it’s a short taxi or bus ride into St Andrews. We also sometimes arrange shuttle buses from Leuchars station to the summer school – more information on that is given in the lead-up to the course.
- From further abroad: The easiest route is to fly into Edinburgh Airport, which has many direct connections across Europe and Asia, and several from the USA. From there, St Andrews is about 1 hour 15 minutes by car or taxi, or you can take a short train ride from Edinburgh Waverley to Leuchars.
Tip: Many visitors say the train journey is part of the experience…those coastal views into Fife are unforgettable!
