Students receive 6 ‘class points’ as part of the full-week course. Most classes are worth one point each with two exceptions:

  • Opera Scenes: worth 4 class points. Each scene that you are assigned will include coachings with pianists and conductors, stage rehearsals from directors, and the Opera Scenes Showcase on the final day. If you are applying for Opera Scenes, you must include a recent recording with your application, made within the last year. Allocations are made according to the variety and strength of applicants each year. Roles for the Opera Scenes will be allocated in time to be memorised.
  • Song Cycle: worth 3 class points. You will work intensively in workshops and rehearsals throughout the week with a pianist and coach, performing in a lunchtime recital towards the end of the week.

In addition to the classes included in the course fees, extra classes may be requested. These may be requested either in advance or once the course has started, and will be allocated according to availability.

To ensure you get your preferred accommodation and class choices it is advisable to apply as early as possible. Your place on the course is confirmed once you have paid your deposit, however class selection is not guaranteed until an invoice has been issued.
