Ingrid Sawers was educated at Edinburgh University where she studied piano with Peter Evans and Alexandra Andrievsky. Subsequent tuition was undertaken either privately or in masterclass/seminar with Roger Vignoles, Imogen Cooper (IMS Prussia Cove), Paul Hamburger and Malcolm Martineau.
As a performer her special interests lie in accompaniment and chamber music, and she has performed throughout the UK, including at the Oxford Lieder Festival, in Ireland, Canada, Austria, Malta and Denmark. In addition to a passion for the song and opera repertoire, she has a longstanding commitment to new music and has given UK/Scottish premieres of pieces by many composers including Judith Bingham, Thomas Adés, Graham Fitkin, Martin Butler and Richard Causton. Previous recordings include works with the ensemble One Voice and music by Andrew Keeling, and in 2013 she released a CD The Coral Sea on Delphian Records with saxophonist Sue McKenzie. Additionally Ingrid has a thriving practice as a teacher and coach, is currently a coach in the Vocal Studies department at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, has given masterclasses/workshops at various UK universities, and travels worldwide as an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. www.ingridsawers.co.uk
