
Nicola Rose is a British pianist and accompanist, known for her dedication to both performance and education. Her musical journey began as one of the founding girl choristers at Salisbury Cathedral.
She pursued her studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD), earning a Bachelor of Music with honours and receiving numerous awards. Following her graduation, Nicola was appointed as a Junior Fellow at RWCMD before completing her training at the National Opera Studio in London.
Nicola’s professional engagements are extensive and varied. She has collaborated with esteemed institutions such as Welsh National Opera, Opera Holland Park, Longborough Festival Opera, Music Theatre Wales, and Barefoot Opera. Her role as a répétiteur has seen her work with the education and community departments of The Royal Opera House, Garsington Opera, English National Opera, and Opera Holland Park.
In 2018, Nicola garnered critical acclaim as the Music Director for Welsh National Opera’s production of “Rhondda Rips It Up!”, a newly commissioned work by Elena Langer and Emma Jenkins that highlights the story of Welsh suffragette Margaret Mackworth.
Beyond the opera house, Nicola is deeply committed to outreach and community work. Since 2011, she has served as a pianist and Music Leader for The Forget-Me-Not Chorus, a Welsh charity dedicated to bringing the joy of singing to individuals living with dementia and their supporters. She is also an alumna of Yehudi Menuhin’s ‘Live Music Now!’ scheme and Lost Chord, both of which aim to transform lives through the power of music.
Currently based in Cardiff, Nicola is a member of the Vocal Faculty at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her freelance career as a vocal coach, accompanist, and répétiteur continues to flourish across the UK.
